Mo Williams (he/they), Program Coordinator, SIGBI

Mo Williams is a dedicated advocate for equity and inclusion, serving as the Program Coordinator for SIGBI and as the Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Program & Grants Manager at Environmental Leadership Program (ELP). A proud Black, non-binary queer with Cuban and Dominican roots, Williams’ upbringing in the Soundview/Parkchester neighborhood of the Bronx shaped his passion for addressing environmental and socioeconomic inequities while fostering authentic community connections.

With over nine years of professional experience, including more than seven years in nonprofit organizations, Mo has worked tirelessly to support marginalized communities. Before joining SIGBI, they co-launched and led the RiseOut Activist-in-Residence fellowship program at The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City. This program empowered Black LGBTQ+ New Yorkers and advanced statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy initiatives. In 2023, he joined ELP’s RAY team, continuing his mission to ensure BIPOC individuals feel seen, safe, and empowered to lead in environmental fields.

Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, Mo remains committed to driving equity through meaningful programming and community-building efforts. When not working, they enjoy caring for their three cats, Olivia, Archie, and Rain, and their bearded dragon, Lucy. A Star Trek enthusiast, Mo also spends time farming in Stardew Valley, belting out karaoke classics from Grease, and finding joy in life’s small moment
