Keeping the Legacy Alive

Jägermeister has always been strong supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community and is proud to continue to partner with Stonewall Inn Gives Back, the official charity of Stonewall Inn.

Together, we launched a nationwide search for the first SIGBI Safe Spaces logo, a logo that is provided for use to all certified Safe Spaces across the country.

Protecting safe spaces is apart of the larger mission of continuing the history and legacy of the Stonewall Inn. To keep up the fight for equality for all.

Imagine a time when to be LGBTQ meant being denied some of the most basic human rights guaranteed under the law.

Then, imagine that time is now. Over fifty years after the birth of the LGBTQ rights movement countless LGBTQ Americans across the nation are still living in fear and often enduring acts of intimidation, hatred and violence simply for who they are.

OUR MISSION

Welcome to The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI). We are a non-profit charitable organization inspired by the struggles and ideals of the LGBTQ rights movement born from the Stonewall Inn Uprising of 1969. We are committed to eliminating the social intolerance that is profoundly impacting the lives of LGBTQ citizens throughout America and abroad. Through awareness campaigns, educational programming, fundraising and candid public dialogue,we support grassroots organizations scattered across the country and especially those in communities where progress toward equality has been slow and the negative impact of ongoing acts of discrimination and harassment can no longer be tolerated.

The Stonewall Inn Story

2816.jpg

One relatively ordinary summer night…

in June of 1969, the patrons of the Stonewall Inn, a little bar in New York City's Greenwich Village, finally stood up in defiance against a regimen of harassment openly administered by the New York City Police Department. The events that followed that night and the days thereafter would send waves of profound social and legal change around the world for years to come.

Nearly fifty years after that historic night, It is difficult to predict when the fight for LGBTQ equality will finally be won, but it can be said with certainty that the day will come and that The Stonewall Inn will forever be, "The Place Where Pride Began."
